This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment RicB asked: "Joe mentioned this... wondered if anyone else has done this = and evnt=20 what are the health risks and precautions... and for that matter... just = what kind of gear is needed to do this, how much heat.... what to melt=20 it in.... how fast it must be re-cast into other forms.... etc etc. Cheers RicB, I answered this for Jeannie Grassi, but since more of you wish to know = about the process.... The tools needed are: 1. Cast Pot for melting 2. Ladle, as used in = casting bullets. 3. Propane Stove w/appropriate tank/regulator, etc. 4. = Picnic Bench or such. This process MUST be done in open air, as the = fumes are not healthy, to say the least! 5. An appropriate air = filtration mask just to be safe/sure. Make your own "Moulds", depending on the size desired. These "Moulds" = must be somewhat "conical"/beveled to insure removal of the leads, after = cooling. Most "ladles" hold enough for about two key leads, (depending = on the size of the key lead, of course.). The ladle is left in the pot, = so it's as hot as the molten lead. BTW, a steady hand is required. = Protective clothing is recommended as well. (Welder's gear is good.) = Heavy Leather, Long gloves. I hope this answers your questions.
