Ed -- I learned how to splice from Bruce Stevens a year or two ago at one of the LA Chapter meetings. Best repair skill I have picked up yet, and I have yet to complete one where I didn't feel a sense of pride and accomplishment when it holds and comes up to pitch. -- Geoff Sykes -- Assoc. A well-done splice is an impressive demonstration of technical ability. Splicing a broken string is almost always the best repair, especially if it is a bass string. Check out the sections on string splicing in the Technical Exam Source Book. Learn to do those fancy splices, and the exam splice will be....a cinch!
