High quality screws are so hard to find today that I
suggest technicians donate their unwanted ones from
destroyed pianos to the Home Office, where they are
put in a drum-type garden composter and mixed around.
Then anyone who wants some buys them by the pound, and
the proceeds go to the PTG museum.

P.S. Rusty screws can be quickly cleand by putting in
a clear jar full of muriatic acid, rinsed as soon as
the rust is visibly gone, dried in a colander with a
hair dryer ( or over a hotplate ) and then sprayed
with some penetrating oil to prevent surface rust.
That's the methood I've been using. What's yours?
