I haven't tried any of them, but recently the disc-type micrometers were mentioned: http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?PMAKA=603-2655&PMPXNO=952448&PARTPG=INLMK3 It sure looks like they would be able to measure strings in the piano cleanly; I'm not as sure about the multi-anvil kind, from looking at the pictures. It seems that only one side of the anvil can be replaced, while the other end is a flat-end rod. Wouldn't you then have to force the strings apart to work the anvil end underneath? --Cy Shuster-- Bluefield, WV ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark Davidson" <mark.davidson@mindspring.com> To: "Pianotech" <pianotech@ptg.org> Sent: Tuesday, September 28, 2004 9:53 PM Subject: micrometer source > Thanks to all for your collective knowledge! > > I guess the trick is just knowing the > name - "multi-anvil micrometer" > > Two sites people suggested as sources: > > $80 (& up) > http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INLMK32?PARTPG=INSRAR2 > > $45 (& up) > http://shop.store.yahoo.com/jehaltools/unmulmic01.html
