Flip side of this is to try and figure out whats wrong with the machine.
I've had this problem with my Dell for a while as well... until last
nite it got so bad the darn thing simply crashed.

A few hours of hunting around on the nett yeilded the solution. Turns
out this is a really common problem that manufacturers are not talking
about, nor offering help for. What often happens is that dust and small
particles of this and that work their way into and under border area
around the touch sensitive screen. When there is enough it starts act as
if someone is taping the screen intermittently, which mucks up the whole
way the system interprets user stylus input . The problem will just get
worse with time until the stuff is cleaned out.

Simple operation really, but I can imagine the demands for this to fall
under a warranty repair would scare any manufacturer.

Here is the routine I found, and used very easily and successfully for
fixing mine.

1. Remove all rubber feet and side peices from the handheld, and take
out all removable cards and both batteries.
2. Take out any and all screws that hold the thing together.
3: Carefully remove the back peice
4: Unplug the speaker cable, should pull straight up (remember which
way it goes)
5: Pull the motherboard away from the front panel.
6: clean the sides of the screen and the area of the front panel it
comes in contact with. A very mild alchohol solution is ok, but usually
a simple (clean) cloth duster is all you need.
7: Inspect the mylar connecting cable. If there is any scratches or
signs of damage, cover with a thin piece of black electrical tape.
8: Re-assemble in exactly as you took apart, check for operation before
re-attaching rubber parts.

Took me about 20 minutes to complete the fix... works great now.

Cheers
