Hi Julia,
I recommend reading the PACE upright regulation manual available from 
the Home Office. The technique described works well, although you 
have to practice bending spoons in the piano. It's not that tough 
after you work on it for a little while. As far as tools, I would 
suggest the APSCO #16406 spoon bender - it's available from Schaff.
