About a Steinway D soundboard substitution

Yes. There are a number of us who can replace the board if necessary. How 
much it costs depends on who builds the board, installs it, strings the 
piano, replaces the dampers, and very possibly replaces the pinblock too. 
But is it necessary? How did it sound before the accident, and how does it 
sound now? The crack isn't itself a problem if the soundboard was working 
adequately before the accident, so if it doesn't sound any different now, 
it probably isn't.
