I guess because the ones I worked on I found were first not pleasant to tune
(tuning pins feeling either snappy or mushy, soundboard, bridge notching
producing a LOT of false beats). And once tuned, they didn't have a very
nice sound. I also found that good regulation was difficult to achieve
because of not so good action geometry, less then adequate action parts etc.

Just wait until you work on a few of them and you'll see. They might be OK
for someone that doesn't play a lot, but I think that if used for
performance they just don't cut it.
