Mark,
What I meant to say is that even after grinding the plate, you will
not have the same possibilities of adjusting the strike point as you
would have with a normal capo bar. In modern grands, the top treble
strike point is very close to the capo bar. Minute adjustments make a
lot of change in the way these notes sound. You will always be limited
with these aggraffes. Even after grinding, there will be a point where
the hammer felt will contact the aggraffe before or simultaneously and
what you will then get is a lack of power before the hammers actually
stick.
The only way to get around that is to file the hammers to a very sharp
point and laquer them so they don't change shape too quickly. Now all
you guys don't you get on my back with the laquer issue now. This is
for this specific top treble aggraffes arrangement.
