Hi Terry,

Welcome back! :-) I hope the storm wasn't too awful!

Actually aliphatic resin glues dry *and* cure. There is a cross-linking =
of the polyvinyl acetate (PVA) during the drying/curing process. This =
isn't true of all white and yellow glues, of course -- mostly the =
water-resistant ones, as I understand it. I don't know what triggers =
this process or how it is catalyzed. It might be triggered through =
evaporation -- or possibly by exposure to oxygen or carbon dioxide. =
Dunno. Anyway, it's a chemical reaction.

Peace,
Sarah

I think the more appropiate (or common anyway) term for the chemical =
reaction that occurrs with epoxy is "cure". But perhpaps that is antics =
with semantics. However, if I am not mistaken, glue, such as yellow =
woodworking glue, does not "set" or "cure" or "dry" by a chemical =
reaction, but rather simply the loss of water - it truly "dries". That =
is indeed a chemical process, but not a chemical reaction. Am I wrong?

Mike and everyone else! Please reset your thought patterns regarding =
Epoxy. The damned stuff does not "DRY" it sets, (by chemical reaction). =
Glue "sets" by drying. (which is another type of chemical reaction) The =
most problems, encountered, with Epoxy, is thinking of it as if it were =
a Glue. It Ain't!!! Sheesh!
    End of Rant!
