No, no AND NO! Tsk! Tsk! Ric! A 1906 hammer shank is going to be so brittle,
(ie inflexible), it's pathetic. New shanks are flexible. This helps
repitition and tone. Brittle shanks will give you a brittle tone and a
clunky action, no matter what you do, IMHO
