The traditional material is black iron pipe. No doubt about its 
ability to stand up to the job. You guessed it, every joint is a 
threaded one, which means that you either have to lay out your system 
using the pre-cut, pre-threaded lengths available at Home Depot, or 
you have to get good at sawing off your own lengths and putting your 
own thread on. The lighter the equipment you pick out for this, the 
more elbow grease involved.

Which is way your looking for something you can either glue or solder together.
