Thanks Kevin for confirming my suspicions. 
Now, let's say that the customer is a friend and I might be willing to do
the job for the cost of the parts and the learning experience. Is it
still a lost cause or maybe not as good a learning experience as I might
think?

Anyone else care to weigh in on this?
