Delignet ?

We've been using a letter 'G'(.261") bit for several years now. It's our
"Juuusssssst right Baby Bear" bit - the "F" (.257") was too tight and
stayed that way for several years, but the "H" (266") started to feel
looser than I'd like after less than 5 years. I like the idea of
drilling the treble a bit looser, although in my experience I'd still
stick with the 'G' in the treble and maybe go with the 'F' in the bass.
I also have wanted to try two step drilling but had planned on a bit
farther removed from my final size than 1/4".

Paul,
We had some low torque readings (under 100) with the I bit (.272),
and
six months ago switched to a two step drilling with 1/4"(.250) and
17/64"(.2656). Air cooled. No fluid. No complaints, almost two blocks a
day. The two step method reduces the effects of inconsistent feed rates,

and actually works out to about the same time. The bits are a little
cheaper also, making us less likely to try and squeeze out just one more

block from a tired bit. Attached is a nifty chart. It's from the nice
folks
at Century Drill. twagner@centurydrill.com
