Wheelock Pianos

I have totally restored a few Wheelocks plus I have one in my living room
with an Ampico A in it (with a model B drawer). I recently restored its
twin sister for a customer in Los Angeles. I would say Wheelock is a good
middle of the road piano for its time. They are better than modern new
cheap pianos, but no Mason Hamlin. Of course these two were from the
thirties during the depression when all brands including Steinway were
cutting corners to bring prices down for the public to be able to purchase
pianos. The earlier ones were better made than the ones from the thirties.

Well the truth is there were two Wheelock brothers that immigrated to the
US. One side of the family led to the Wheelock pianos. My side led to
farming in the Midwest. All we have on our side is some postcards the piano
company sent out for marketing.
