Hammer wobble

Hi Joe,
Thanks, for the reply.
I hadn't realized the problem, was so bad.
I just replaced a set of shanks. I didn't check them all.
I found only two obvious ones, that I had to repin. I could see the tight
one easily, the hammer return was slow.
The loose one took a while to figure out.
The note would play normally, for all but a hard blow.
On a hard blow, the tail, caught on the backcheck. I adjusted it in , out,
it would catch then not catch, but then it wouldn't check. It ended up,
after swapping parts, that was the flange, it was loose by an extra 4
swings. I repinned for 3 swings, and it was ok. They were Encore Renner
style shanks, and I thought 2 bad, was good.
Who knows if I would have found more out of tolerance, if I had checked them
all.
The piano works to the customers satisfaction.
But next time I will check them all, just for self satisfaction.
Best regards,
The shank pinning was the last thing that I could think of to try.
