I wear mask, rubber gloves, and take out the keyframe and scrub the keybed with a brass brush and alcohol, then mop up the mess with paper towels and discard. When dry, I paint it. I similarly scrub the keyframe, then put cut soda straws or rubber tubing over the keypins and spraypaint. Also the keys, the ivories of which can be masked with that blue "painter's tape" ( exactly 3/4" ) and the busahings plugged with a cheap set of bushing cauls. I use an off white paint, and its presence on the key sides is not at all objectionable. ( And much easier to wipe clean of finger-grime than bare wood! ) It probably also stabilizes the keys, dimensionally. This is the best way I have found to mitigate mouse-stench, but it will not work on pianos like the one a "lady" here had in her restaurant----with about a coffee- can worth of mouse crap in it! ( She had Gospel-sing alongs on Sunday night for local children, who played it, and then ate cookies with their fingers !!! I offered to buy the piano with the express purpose of burning it, but she refused. ) Thump --- Don <pianotuna@accesscomm.ca> wrote: > Hi, > > Your mask will need to have "Hepa" filters on it. > Virus particles are > *very* small, so an ordinary dust mask is > essentially transparent to them. > > At 12:29 PM 4/18/2004 +0000, you wrote: > >Hi People, > > > >This is a very timely subject for me.
