---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment >Do you find that the chalk by itself is adequate protection? What would stick through a layer of chalk? Granted, wax paper mic's at .002" but a dusting of chalk is negligible and doesn't need to be held in place. When I'm seeking the ultimate thrill of full contact, beyond the laborious fit with chalk; MarineTex paste epoxy applied in a thin bead spreads out and socks it home; and doesn't stick: 'set it and forget it'. <g> After the block is clamped and the epoxy set, drill the screw holes (tapered bit for wood screws) and install the screws. Then center punch the pin holes for drilling on the drill press. Once the block has been removed, drill out the plate webbing holes at an angle (same size or 1/64" larger ((depending)) than original and at the same angle or greater than the pin angle so the bottom of the plate hole is well away from the pin. (Especially good to do when repinning with larger pins, keeping the old block and removing the plate) Then refinish the plate, if needed/warranted. Chalk is better than 444, fill pores, dusts off. Seal with shellac.
