This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment I've also noticed on Charles Walters uprights that they left pencil = marks on the keysticks when they were doing the final key leading, so I = don't think that was done after it left the factory. Let-off won't feel = as pronounced on an upright as it will on a grand anyway. If you're = looking for the 1/16" gap on an upright jack, it's critical that the = back checking distance be correct, otherwise, all bets are off. On a grand, to get a good feeling of a sharp let-off, the drop must = be set correctly, and there must be some aftertouch. Is = it just that aftertouch is too smooth ?? That condition in a grand = action normally means one of two things to me... either the letoff = button engages too (just a tad before the drop button) , or there is = simply too little aftertouch.=20 RicB=20 =20 > Hello all ,=20 > I was summoned to work on a Charles Walter yesterday, and could = not feel the letoff except on a few keys . there is > plenty of key = height and dip.It looks as though someone added more key weight.I found = pencil lines on the keys where > the leads looked different than the = originals. The jack seems to kinda roll off the butte with no clunk . = Would someone > please help.=20 > Thanks=20 > Dan RPT=20 >=20 =20 =20 --=20 Richard Brekne=20 RPT, N.P.T.F.=20 UiB, Bergen, Norway=20 mailto:rbrekne@broadpark.no=20 http://home.broadpark.no/~rbrekne/ricmain.html=20 http://www.hf.uib.no/grieg/personer/cv_RB.html=20 =20 ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
