I've done a couple of these with all new Tokiwa parts - Yamaha dampers and it's a royal pain! After examining some new K's I've wondered if one could simple but a new style action frame from NY and install the new Renner parts on it. Expensive, but it would make regulating and future service much easier. Also I remain unconvinced of the longevity of the Tokiwa parts - the more of them that I see, the less I like them. - Mark -----Original Message----- From: Avery Todd [mailto:avery@ev1.net] Sent: Tuesday, September 23, 2003 5:11 PM To: Pianotech Subject: RE: Steinway K Double flange Tom, I also have one of these at the university. There's also a good argument for replacing the whole action with a "normal" one! :-) But that, too, is way expensive! And besides, I don't have the expertise to "design" one for Renner to build! :-) Avery >There is also a >good argument for replacing the butts and Whippens but that is another >topic. > Tom Driscoll RPT
