Skid potential, was Glue cleanup on ribs

Terry,

There is a technique for gluing ribs on guitar soundboards that involves
pressing the glued rib into position, and sliding it back and forth until
it "grabs", then applying the clamps/go-bars. I think what's actually
happening is shearing the glued film until it is thin (dimensioinally, not
viscosity) enough to not skid. Works with titebond and other cold
water-based glues as well as hot hide. Could this work on pianos? Or are
the parts too big and stiff?

Mike
