I haven't made and saved patterns, nor have I done hundreds, so I don't 
know. Somehow though, I doubt it.

You'll have to handle the un-ribbed panel to cut it to size and fit it in 
the case anyway, so it's not that big a deal. Make a template if it feels 
more comfortable to you. By the time you do the third or forth one, you'll 
have changed a lot of the methods you used on the first one anyway. The 
more things you try, the more options you'll have to pick and chose from as 
you zero in on what best suits your style.
