Dave,
Not if all things are as they should be!!!!!! Of course, there are some
pianists that can break stings at will, but that's another thing all
together. My feeling is: I don't care what kind of music is being played,
the piano should not break strings unless there is a problem, albeit scale,
terminations, hammers, regulation, .....etc.! Stravinsky wrote/played on
truly lesser pianos than a Steinway "D" and probably didn't have any sting
problems. (Of course that's just a guess on my part.<G>) Beethoven broke
strings. But, he was DEAF! I would bet dollars to donuts that there is
something amiss there.
