I assume it's something to kill the "pests". It's on the back end of the keys, on the hammers and the top of the dampers. I decided I didn't want to take a chance but would like to know what it might be. It's sort of a Kelly green in color. Avery Avery This may be a product called "Paris Green". I worked @Wadley Piano in Dallas in the late 70's and saw lots of this stuff in older pianos. The store owner (The late Brookin Wadley) told me they used it for Critter control in the "old days". I don't know its composition but caution might be in order. Tom Driscoll Avery, Part Two: Infoplease.com and TeacherVision.com both have reference to "Paris Green" I paraphrase from both sites as follows: <Emerald green poisonous powder produced from arsenic trioxide and copper sulfate .used as pigment, insecticide and wood preservative. Must be used with great caution due to its poisonous nature.> Allrighty then! Can you say mask, gloves, Hepa vac? Either this stuff isn't as bad as it sounds or I'm really lucky cause I saw it by the bucket full twenty five years ago! Tom Driscoll RPT
