If there's an actual gap, I'll Titebond size or veneer shim. The CA is for 
when the pin is in, but isn't as tight as I'd like to see it. Applied from 
the top. Dipping and inserting would just scrape the stuff off, leaving it 
all at the top anyway, so,,,
