DC units installed with only a dehumidifier
bar can be dangerous to a pianos health.

---Case in point----

Approx. 10 year old 6" grand.
   Heat rod only, no control.
Previous owner may have understood, technician
may have explained summer only/winter bad.....etc.

This nearly new grand was resold 2 years ago to
pianist. Pianist waits 2 years before finally calling
a technician. The heat rod has been plugged in full
time, year round. This is Ottawa, the last two weeks
have seen minus 20 every day, she has electric heat to
start with which is already dry, and she has been
cooking the soundboard.
Two foot crack right down the middle, open,
not off the ribs yet. She was practically in tears.
I explained the need for a full system, and that
it may close up and stay put for many years to come.
That we should mark it, and if it expands, fill and
re-enforce, at least get the proper system. Comments?

I don't care how well we explain a partial system.
Someday the piano and some poor client one step
removed is going to pay.

Such a nice piano to. Schiedmier, perfect wood
finish, nice tone, not much wear, nearly new.
Shame.
