opinionating the quality of other technicians.

What is all this? If a hammer is bent or a key is crooked, tell the owner the key is crooked or the hammer is bent. Why in the world would you feel the need to say ANYTHING about another tech's work?

I put a set of bridle straps on an old moldy piano a while back. Came back to tune it a while later and the lady commented about something inside "when you were here last time to rebuild the inside......". So if someone were to comment on my work they might suggest that I install 100-year old hammers and the such on my rebuilds.

No, if there is something amiss with the piano, talk about the piano, not about who did what (unless of course, you goofed it up!).

Just my 8 beats/minute.

Keep it up and you will get sued. You should say nothing. You might say he generally does good work.PERIOD.

There are politically correct ways of handling these situations.
  Example:

No: "Jack Flange's does really bad work, you shouldn't use him". He over charges and doesn't know what he's doing".

Yes: "I generally find it difficult to endorse Jack Flange in some cases. Although he is a nice guy and I have nothing personally against him
it is in my opinion that he requires enhancement on some of his techniques. Perhaps in the future I will feel better about his
skills and be more willing to recommend him."

You need say no more. They will get the idea.
