Yup. OK, so it was a newbie puzzler.

Some keys would sometimes rest just above their normal rest position,
because the balance rail pin hole was too tight. When you then played the
key, the initial pressure broke it free, creating the slight tapping
sound. A few bushings were tight, but mostly the holes.
