In my opinion almost any reputable hammer is better then Steinway's stock "average-at-best". I prefer Abel myself, (awesome quality, voices like a dream), but Renner is also a major step in the right direction. Replace the shanks while you are at it, no exceptions. For these Renner is the best choice by far. If you feel uncomfortable about hanging hammers contact Wally Brooks, (Brooks LTD). He is an authorized distributor, keeps them in stock, and can bore and pre-hang them on Renner shanks if you want. Your customer will think you are the greatest technician in the world.
