On a small grand you have so much opportunity to improve the stringing scale by rescaling. Right you are Greg. It will also present the opportunity to get rid of those wound tricords. You will also likely convert some number of low tenor plain tricords of wound bicords.

I have had David Sanderson of Sanderson Accustring do rescaling (and make the bass strings) on pianos like this with excellent results.

IMHO, I would not even consider restringing the piano with the original scale.
