But if you're replacing a set that was replaced before, and the pervious tech had not concept of the meaning of a straight line, it is best to use the end hammers as a guide. But I like to do the end hammer routine in any case. It's much easier for me. As far as traveling is concerned, you should do that after hanging any way. The hammers give you a much better guide.
