section?  That would require modifying the damper guide rail a bit but =
that wouldn't be too hard.  Are there other methods of stiffening the =
board in that section that you have tried and had any success with.

I've not found any of that to be necessary. I do not thin the board =
anywhere from the front edge back about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way toward the =
bass. I accomplish the rest of what I'm after by ribbing and by grain =
orientation. Stiff enough is stiff enough.
