I think another factor is the sheer size of the list.  What is it now,
almost 600 subscribers?  That will naturally make for many more emails
than when there were, say 200.

One irony I've seen is that the list is seen as self-regulating, but if
someone attempts to suggest a correction there's a good chance s/he'll
get slammed by someone else.  Doesn't make sense to me.
