Mark: Arrange to have the piano put on sturdy sawhorses so you can get the action out. Then take out one of the inserts (most likely a large t-nut) to use to find bolts that will fit. As for bolt lengths -- keep in mind that the bolts holding the tail leg are sometimes longer than the bolts holding the other 2 legs. When you do find bolts that fit, be very careful not to cross-thread anything. The metal they used was very cheap and easy to deform. Couple that with quality-control/consistency issues, and ... let's say politely that you may find yourself replacing the socket inserts in addition to the bolts themselves. Z! (I know, it being a Horugel, he : would have done well to leave it stored, but alas....) Upon returning : the piano late last week, the professionals discovered that they lost the : leg bolts, leaving them no option other than to leave the piano up on its : side in the living room. Not what the missus had pictured, to be sure. : I have been asked by the storage facility to remedy the problem, at their : expense. : : BY ANY CHANCE, does anyone have any idea what size of threaded bolt may : have been used on these? It is approximately 15-20 years old, I would : guess. I only know from talking to the storage people that it is a : machine bolt, metric, no doubt, that threads up into threaded metal : inserts in the case bottom. I plan on going armed with a variety of : sizes to see what fits, but if anyone knows anything that may narrow the : field a bit, I would be most grateful. : : Mark Potter : bases-loaded@juno.com : : _______________________________________________ : pianotech list info: https://www.moypiano.com/resources/#archives
