   I once heard that the hammers go out of alignment due to the side
weight .

 

         

Possible ,along with bichords and trichord damper felt getting somewhat
distorted .In a previous thread I believe someone mentioned checking
position of the damper guide rails after extended "side" time , but all
these conditions ,especially hammer spacing would fall under regular
maintenance in order to put  the piano back in service.
