6:3 bass octaves---why?

I doubt I will contribute to straightening you out, Tom.

My way of thinking is this: If I can tune shorter segments of two 
music wires together (the higher partials), the longer segments (the 
lower partials) are bound to be in tune. Also, those partials are 
somewhat easier to distinguish.

Now I've gone and done it. Revealed more of how little I know.
