Eons ago, when I was just beginning pianowork, we sprayed a few coats, then let dry overnight, sanded, sprayed, sanded etc...I haven't refinished a piano in 20 years but is it now unnecessary to sand between coats?

The most efficient way to go is:
1.Spray all coats on the piano.
2. Rebuild the piano.
3. Rub the piano.

This method will allow for curing while rebuilding. Make sure you spray enough material to avoid rub through, because you will have to wait for a touch up to cure and match the look of your cured coating.

I am doing more rebuilding now and would like to know if you rebuild first and then refinish or vise versa. In the past I have done each on separate pianos but never together. Which way works best and why?
