The Steinway folks have convinced a large percentage of the piano world (consumer, performance, and technical) that a piano built with 100+ year old design and methods, being delivered needing everything from a couple of days' prep to a major overhaul and re-engineering, and carrying a five year warranty, is the world's premier instrument and the standard to which every other maker aspires.
