I need some advice

Brian, you might try getting a second opinion...and it's not that most of us
reading this would disagree with what your tuner has suggested. Getting a
second opinion may help ease your mind.

I come from a performance background and I completely understand you
concerns. There's alot of us reading this who, at one time, came from a
playing background, and may not have necessarily been the piano. As
musicians, we don't want to disturb the applecart, so to speak..as
technicians, we know the applecart needs to be fixed, regardless of how the
'rider' feels about it.

Does that make sense?

Your concerns are valid, and for what you are about to embark on as far as
repairing the piano, it may ease your mind to get a 2nd opinion.

May I suggest a member of the Piano Technicians Guild to take a look at it
for you?
