 I use Mohawk's' :) Pale Gold #M380-4374. I find that it is almost a match 
for most plates. For those plates where I want the color exact I will use 
various other shades to get the correct blend. It has worked well for many 
years and I would have to be convinced awfully mucho to change. I always seal 
the plate after preparation and before spraying the gilding coats with a coat 
of clear laquer. After gilding I spray numerous light coats of clear laquer, 
either gloss of satin depending, until I get the desired finish....
