Thoughts on Warranties (was Re: Steinway defect)

I would hope that lack of service in one area would not void a
warranty in another.  Example:  I have an Excursion with a 75,000
mile warranty.  I follow all the manufacture's guidelines about oil,
filter etc.  I have also treated the leather seats.  However, if I
failed to use leather conditioning on the seats, would that void the
warranty on the engine?  I really hope not.
