That was the late Douglas Adams, author of the Hitch Hikers Guide to the
Galaxy series.  It was an illustration of the "Improbability Drive", a
possible outcome of infinite improbability.  The idea that anything is
possible no matter how improbable given an infinate amount of time to
complete the task.
