Subject: What do pianos sound like?

I find it interesting what words both pianists and technicians use to describe the sound of a particular piano. With so many definitions is there really a standard? I'm sure most would agree. Here are a some phrases commonly used to describe pianos...

The piano sounds "bright"
The piano sounds "dark"
The piano sounds "tinny"
The piano sounds "rough"
The piano sounds "crisp"
The piano sounds "tubby"
The piano sounds "muddy"
The piano sounds "dead"
The piano sounds "full"
The piano sounds "weak"
The piano sounds "deep"
The piano sounds "shallow"
The piano sounds "metallic"
The piano sounds "woody"
The piano sounds "grainy"
The piano sounds "smooth"
The piano sounds "hollow"
The piano sounds "clean"
The piano sounds "dry"
The piano sounds "cool"
The piano sounds "transparent"
The piano sounds "hard"
The piano sounds "solid"
The piano sounds "glassy"
The piano sounds "fluid"
The piano sounds "reflective"
The piano sounds "hot"

Well there you go. That is what a piano sounds like.
