Hi Del,
            Photo's are fine and illustrate the point very well. rebar 
right up to the bridge pin. Well almost.   <G>
I bet the sound opened right up and sustained beautifully.
Pity the piano is not good because the bass string is tooooooooo short. 
(Chuckle)
