The closer a Yamaha Piano serial number gets to 1,000,000 the more "iffy" =
the accuracy gets. Additionally, the serial numbers for the Michigan =
built pianos are not included in the on-line database, but they really =
don't need to be as all the Michigan product was built for this market. =
They are easily identified by the letter "U" that precedes the serial =
number. =20
Feel free to call Yamaha Piano Service at 800 854 1569 to check on any =
serial number you think might be tagged "gray-market" in error.

Being curious...
I decided to check the Yamaha website to check on some of the older =
Yamaha=20
studios we have here at the college.
Model P2 #144xxxx (1972) [We have 6 going strong here] comes up:
>Serial Number 144xxxx does NOT appear to be built for the North =
American=20
>market.
>For additional information call (800) 854-1569

These were bought here in the US from a dealer here in the US. Can I=20
assume that calling that number will confirm that fact? How should I, =
as=20
any normal peruser of that site, react at what I know to be inaccurate?

#101781, {Michigander?} which I clearly see stamped on the piano as being =
a=20
P202, is identified as a M306.

Confusion abounds.

I really hope, for all concerned, that accurate information CAN be =
obtained.
