Hammer tapering Jig

John,

We here in the US are tapering hammers with extreme precision to precisely
control hammer weight. The best fixture there is is one made by Bill Spurlock
http://www.spurlocktools.com/

On a good table saw and a sharp blade tapering can be done to within 0.001" per
side. Tapering should be done from strike point to tail. Taper one side of the
set then the second side can be set up to control hammer weight.

Now the trick is to taper, with the same precision, a set of hammers already
hung on shanks without pulling the hammers then rehanging them.

I have been thinking of ways and means but have not yet come up with a specific
design that I would start cutting materials for a first experiment but the
cutting tool of choice will likely be a small router. And a vacuum cleaner.
And ear plugs.
