It was the German equivalent of the American Duo-Art
or AMPCO - in other words a reproducing piano system
whereby performances were re-created by means of paper
rolls.  Unlike pianola rolls, the dynamics, pedaling
and pressure of touch were also coded on to the roll
giving virtually a 'recorded performace'. People seem
to have a preference for one system or another, Duo
Art seems to be the most popular for classical rolls.
