David, I like your term (Steinway posse).

Sooo, remember how I reported a rumor about Steinway only working every other week. I didn't know whether to believe it or not. I fully expected at least one of the (Steinway snobs) to take umbrage and raise himself upright on his hind legs and indignantly declare it false. But NOTHING!! So what does that tell us?? Hmmmmm? Many that rave about S&S base it on pianos made many years ago. If in fact they're only working every other week, the statement made awhile back that they can sell all they can make and people are standing in line to buy them is just advertising garbage mouth.

Being on top makes them an easy target. Staying on top is even harder than getting there.

If there is one thing I've heard once too often, it's (Yes we've had problems, but we've got them fixed now). That was said regarding quality of repair parts. If it hasn't or doesn't happen that will affect the way rebuilders feel about older S&S pianos.
I suspect that when people demand genuine S&S parts and get charged accordingly they may start to accept other brands that are cheaper.

We'll see, won't we?
