Hazen,

I have had very good success on hard damper felts simply by squeezing & =
"massaging" them with my fingers. Usually if that doesn't work I replace =
them. As for sandblasting, doesn't sand get embedded into the felt? I =
suppose if I run into a 'candidate' for experimenting I will try it. =
What air pressure settings, etc?

Thanks,
Greg

  Hi Greg,=20

When the sand hits all the compressed felt,it so to speak, unpacks =
it,making it more to the dimension it was when new, even damper felt and =
hammers that are deeply grooved.Think of how noisy an old damper =
sounds, and how much better it sounds, after sand papering.=20

Could you describe your use of a sandblaster to revitalize old =
crusty and compressed felt?=20
