I have recently gone to getting a very short tuning lever that can be =
used at that end of the piano with the lid up or down. There are times =
when the lid cannot conveniently be raised or, as you describe, access =
is limited. This allows you to tune that area more easily. =20

  Hi list,=20
I wonder if most of the piano makers put the lid prop,on a grand, =
where they did on purpose,to make it impossible to get a good hammer =
angle while tuning. It's easy going till the last octave, trying to tune =
around the lid prop.(especially in a church where the piano is boxed =
in,and the treble end is against a wall).=20
  Good tuning,=20
